Honnavar: A 66-year-old woman died after she met with an accident near Colonel Hill on NH 66 here.

The deceased has been identified as Savitri Krishnamurthy Bhat, a resident of Gandhi Nagar in Honnavar. She had retired as a BSNL employee. The accident took place when a container moving towards Kerala hit the two-wheeler on which Savitri and her husband were riding, from the rear end.

Savitri’s body literally got torn into pieces in the accident. A video of her beating heart (for some time) that was separated from the body circulated on social media.

Her husband K R Bhat suffered injuries and is being treated at a hospital.
