UDUPI: After the recent revision of voters' list, Udupi district has earned the distinction of having the highest number of women voters and Bengaluru Rural brings up the rear with the lowest in the state.
Udupi DC M Kurma Rao said Karnataka has 5.05 crore voters. Of them, 2.54 crore are men and 2.5 crore women. Udupi has 10.1 lakh voters, and 5.2 lakh are women and 4.9 lakh men, besides 12 voters from the third gender. The DC said the chief electoral officer of Karnataka also tweeted about Udupi having been recognised as the district with the highest number of women voters.
Women voters outnumber men in Udupi
The DC said that women voters outnumber men in all the assembly constituencies of Udupi district. Byndoor assembly constituency has 1.12 lakh men voters and 1.17 lakh women.
In Kundapur taluk, out of 2,04,525 voters, 98,224 are men and 1,06,298 are women.
In Udupi constituency, out of 2,11,631 voters, 1,02,192 are men and 1,09,439 are women. Kaup is home to 1,84,088 voters, including 88,114 men and 95,968 women. Karkala has 1,86,451 voters with 89,404 men and 97,047 women.
