Haliyal: The national flag hoisted on the premises of the Gram Panchayat office at Murkwad village, about 8 km from Haliyal, was found atop the mast even on Sunday night.

It is learnt that the flag was hoisted as a daily practice on Saturday morning and was not lowered even till Sunday evening as required by the flag code.

The people of Murkwad have demanded stern action against the GP employee who is entrusted the responsibility of hoisting and lowering the flag.
