Bengaluru — The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) officially declared the SSLC (Class 10) Exam-1 results for 2025 on Friday, marking a notable improvement in student performance across the state. The results were announced during a press conference held at the KSEAB office in Bengaluru by Madhu Bangarappa, Minister for School Education and Literacy.
This year, 8,42,173 students appeared for the SSLC exams, which were held from March 21 to April 4 across 2,818 examination centres throughout Karnataka. Out of the total candidates, 5,24,984 students successfully passed, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 62.34%, a significant increase from last year’s 53%. In 2024, the final pass percentage had reached 73% only after awarding 20% grace marks, a practice that was discontinued this year.
Highlighting the commitment to academic integrity, Minister Bangarappa emphasized that no grace marks were awarded this year, in line with the Chief Minister’s directive. Instead, the department implemented a series of remedial measures to boost learning outcomes. These included early syllabus completion by December-January, the recruitment of guest teachers, special evening classes, and direct monitoring of progress by Zilla Panchayat CEOs.
The most outstanding achievement came from 22 students who scored a perfect 625 out of 625 marks, a sharp rise from just two toppers in 2024. Of these, 16 were girl students and two hailed from government schools, with seven students from Bengaluru alone making it to the perfect-score list. Additionally, 65 students scored 624 marks, followed by 108 students with 623, 189 with 622, 259 with 621, and 327 students scoring 620, underscoring the strong academic performance this year.
District-wise, Dakshina Kannada led with a pass percentage of 91.12%, followed by Udupi at 89.96%. In contrast, Kalaburagi (42.43%) and Vijayapura (49.58%) reported the lowest pass percentages. Meanwhile, 144 schools across the state, including six government schools, recorded zero pass results. The Minister assured that steps would be taken to support these schools and ensure better performance in the upcoming supplementary exams.
Students are now able to check their results on the official website karresults.nic.in using their roll number and date of birth. The board has advised students to verify personal details and subject-wise marks, and report any discrepancies to KSEAB immediately.
To provide students with multiple opportunities for improvement, KSEAB has introduced a three-phase SSLC examination system. While Exam-1 has concluded, Exam-2 is scheduled from May 26 to June 2, 2025, followed by Exam-3 from June 23 to June 30, 2025.
Minister Bangarappa credited this year's improved performance to focused interventions and urged students, parents, and schools to continue their efforts. He noted that 75% of the passed students secured first class or distinction by scoring over 69%, reflecting the success of the state’s renewed focus on foundational learning.
Students and parents are encouraged to regularly check the KSEAB official website for updates on revaluation, supplementary exams, and further announcements regarding Exam-2 and Exam-3.
