Mundgod: Two Buddhist monks who were swimming in the Bachanaki reservoir in Mundgod taluk drowned on Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as Tinley Namgyal (22) and Sangai Wangchuk (22), students of Loseling Buddhist School in Tibetan Camp No: 2.

It is suspected that the two young monks died as they must have entered the water without realizing the depth. CPI Siddappa Simani and others visited the spot. Mundgod Police have registered a case.
