Bhatkal: A private bus knocked down a 69-year-old pedestrian to death while he was crossing the Shirali National highway in Bhatkal on Thursday. 

The deceased has been identified as Honappa Thimayya Naik.

The bus was coming from Hubli and was on the way to Mangalore. The driver, lost control of the bus just as the pedestrian was attempting to cross the Highway.

Murdeshwar police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Govt hospital.
