Mangaluru: The Boys team from Udupi and the girls team from Dakshina Kannada bagged team championship in the state-level Pre-University Athletics’ Meet 2022 held at Mangala Stadium.
The meet commenced on December 17 and concluded on Monday. The Boys team from Udupi won the championship by winning 57 points while the Dakshina Kannada team became runners-up by winning 32 points. The girls team from DK won the championship by winning 62 points and the Udupi team won runners-up by securing 28 points.
Individual championship
N Dhruva Ballal from Udupi won the Individual Championship by securing 10 points. He had won the first place in 200 m and 400 m race.
Three students won the individual championship in girls category. They are Pranjali A from DK, Pavana N from Bengaluru South and Prathibha from Dakshina Kannada.
Pranjali had won the first place in shot put and discuss throw, Pavana had won the first place in high jump and long jump and Prathibha won first place in 1,500 m and 3,000 m races.
Meet records
The sports meet also witnessed several meet records. Chintana H V created a new meet record in 1,500 m race by covering in 04:07.6 seconds.
The old record was in the name of Devanna Naik of DK created in 2008 (04:12.3 seconds). Rohan Bekal from Bengaluru South created new meet record in 3,000 m by covering in 09:05.5 seconds. The previous record was by Aslam Multhani from Chikkodi in 2018 (09:13.3 seconds).
Pavana H from Bengaluru South created meet record in high jump (1.60 m). The previous record was by Kavana from Bengaluru North in 2018 (1.56 m).
Prathibha from DK created new meet record by covering 3,000 m in 10:56.4 seconds. The previous record was by Harshitha from Bengaluru North in 2014 (11:04.6 seconds).
Pranjali from DK created a meet record in shot put (12.61 m). The previous record was by Vidyashree R Padatari from Chikkodi in 2014 (11 metre).
In javelin throw, Deepa Basanu Kupani from Chikkodi created meet record (34.48 m). The previous record was by Divya Jyothi from Udupi in 2018 ( 30.60 m).
In hammer throw, P Keerthi from Ballari created a meet record (49.03 m). The previous record was by Veeksha from DK in 2014 (45.350m ). N C Manasa from Kodagu created a new meet record by covering 400 m in 57.9 seconds while the previous record was by Venessa Carol Quadros from DK in 2015 (58.1 m).
