Bhatkal: After days of scorching heat and intermittent light showers, Bhatkal finally received a good spell of rain on Saturday evening. The rainfall, accompanied by loud thunder and lightning, brought much-needed relief from the intense summer heat.

Although light rain was witnessed late Friday night and two days earlier, it had little effect on the soaring temperatures. The heat that began with the onset of Ramadan had continued to intensify in its final days. However, today’s downpour signals a possible change in weather, with a noticeable drop in temperature.

As the rain began, power supply across the town was disrupted. At the time of reporting, the rainfall was still continuing.
