Mangaluru: Leaders from various political parties have condemned the murder of Jaleel at Katipalla 4th Block in Surathkal.

Social Democratic Party of India’s state committee member Ataullah Jokatte has demanded an impartial probe into the incident and the arrest of culprits immediately. The police should not succumb to any pressure when it comes to acting against those creating disturbances in society, he said.

State president of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) Muneer Katipalla in a statement said that it appears that criminals have no fear of law. People are anxious. Rumours are being spread about the murder. Police should conduct a fair investigation into the murder and arrest persons behind the attack. There is no point in people getting divided on the basis of religion. There is a need to fight for the justice of the victim’s family, he said.

JD(S) spokesperson Susheel Noronha has urged the police to consider the incident of Jaleel’s murder seriously and initiate strict action against the culprits. “It is impossible for people to live in fear on the occasion of Christmas and New Year. There have been incidents of moral policing, hooliganism and murders in the district for the past several years. Such incidents have brought a bad name to the department, he said.
