Bhatkal: Bhatkal taluka unit of Karnataka State Government Employees Association staged a symbolic protest in front of Tahsildar office and submitted memorandum to the government through assistant commissioner demanding for the revisions of the wage for the state government employees equally as it is for the employees of central government.
Since 1966-2011, state government has formed five wage commissions, three authorities wage committee and one cabinet subcommittee for the development to follow in employees wages. But, these committees have equalised wages for central govt employees. On 8th March, in a programme organised by Karnataka State Government Employees Association in Mysore and Mandya which was inaugurated by CM Siddarammaiah, where he stated that he will be soon solving the issues related to employees within the year 2016-17 but there was no kind of mentioning of state govt employees in the current year's budget where the employees felt neglected.
The memorandum also suggested that the state govt employees should also have the recommendations in wages as that of central govt employees. The memorandum was submitted to Bhatkal assistant commissioner Chidanand Vatare.
It maybe noted that the protest began with the procession from Tahsildar office passing through Shamshuddin circle and concluded at Assistant commissioner office. Mass slogans were shouted by the protestors.
In the protest, Bhatkal government employees association president MB Naik, Vice-President Anant Bhatkal, MN Naik, Gen secretary Umesh Karekatte, Treasurer Sudheer Gaonkar, GR Bhat, Primary school teachers association prez Shankar Naik, Gen secretary Gopal Naik, Secondary school teachers association president Shridhar Jambhur Mata, CITU Leader Subhash Koppikar and many employees had participated.
