Mangaluru: In a tragic incident on Wednesday, three young men working in Bengaluru drowned while swimming in the Arabian Sea near Kulai Jetty, Surathkal. Local fishermen managed to rescue one person from the group.

According to the police, the deceased have been identified as Manjunath N. (30) from Chitradurga, Shivakumar (30) from Shivamogga, and Sathyavelu (30) from Bengaluru. The sole survivor, Parameshwar (30), hails from Bidar.

The four were former classmates at AMC Engineering College in Bengaluru and were currently employed at different companies in the city. They had arrived at the spot in a Swift car as part of a leisure trip.

Police reported that the incident occurred around 2 PM when the group went for a swim. Upon noticing the men drowning, local fishermen rushed to their rescue but could save only one of them.

Unlike Panambur or Tannirbhavi beaches, which have lifeguards and regular safety warnings, Kulai Beach lacks such safety measures. Locals have raised concerns about the absence of safety arrangements in the area.
