Udupi: A delegation of fishermen, led by MLA K Raghupathi Bhat, met Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and demanded fulfillment of their demands.

The delegation urged the CM to increase the subsidised diesel for fishing boats to 500 litres.

The Tebma Ship Yard should be handed over to the port department for the benefiting of fisheries in Malpe port. The traditional fishing boats should be supplied with 400 litres of subsidised kerosene, he said.

''Jetty should be constructed for traditional boats. The benefits of Yashaswini scheme should be extended to fishermen. A site should be allotted for a lease for the fisherwomen for drying fish. Additional grants should be allotted for fishing activities in the budget,'' the delegation added.

Malpe Fishermen Association president Dayananda Suvarna and others were present.
