
Bhatkal: For the first time, the Bhatkal Taluka Journalists Welfare Association (BTJWA) is organizing an inter-district cricket tournament for journalists, titled ‘Bhatkal Media Cup-2025’. The two-day sporting event will be held on April 26 and 27 at the Taluka Stadium, popularly known as the YMSA Ground, located in Nawayat Colony, Bhatkal.
The tournament is being sponsored by Beena Mankal Vaidya, Director of Bhatkal Urban Bank. The inaugural ceremony is scheduled for 9:00 AM on Saturday, April 26, and will be officially inaugurated by Karnataka’s Minister for Fisheries, Ports, and Inland Water Transport, Mankal Vaidya.
The event will be presided over by BTJWA President Raghavendra Hebbar.
Several prominent dignitaries are expected to attend the event, including Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner Lakshmi Priya, Superintendent of Police M. Narayan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sajid Mulla, Zilla Panchayat CEO Ishwar Kumar Kandoo, District Information Officer Shivakumar, Assistant Commissioner of Bhatkal Kavyarani K.V., Deputy Superintendent of Police Mahesh, Tahsildar Nagendra Kolashetti, Bhatkal TMC In-charge President Altaf Kharuri, and Jali Panchayat President Afsha Kazia.
Among the special invitees are G. Subraya Bhat Bakkal, President of the District Working Journalists’ Association, Rajesh Shetty, President of the Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association, T.B. Harikanth, President of the Karwar Press Club, and M.R. Manvi, President of the Bhatkal Taluka Working Journalists’ Association.
A total of six teams from Uttara Kannada and Udupi districts will be competing in the tournament. BTJWA President Raghavendra Hebbar has extended an invitation to all cricket and sports enthusiasts to attend the tournament and enjoy the exciting matches.
