Manipal: Deputy Commissioner Dr Vishal R said talks are being held over colour coding for private buses in the district.

He was speaking at the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) meeting held at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium.

Vishal also responded to an appeal made by private bus owners' organisations. He assured them that he will look into private bus fare revision.

He instructed the private and KSRTC buses to compulsorily follow timings and routes allotted.

He said stringent action will be taken against the buses that violate the licence norms, route permits and the timings.

Vishal directed the RTO to cancel the licences of the private buses which indulge in rent business and snatch the business of autorickshaws.

He said 12 RTA meetings have been held from November 2014 and around 700 cases have been dealt in the meetings.

Among them, 360 have been disposed of and the remaining cases are being taken up in a phase-wise manner. A total of 75 cases were taken up, including 61 new and 14 pending cases.

Vishal stated that 3 out of 14 licence variations applications have been sanctioned. As many as 59 new licences have been given among the 61 applications submitted, he added.
