Village accountant caught red-handed while accepting bribe

Mangalore: Sleuths from the Anti-Corruption Bureau caught the village account Mahesh S. red-handed while accepting Rs. 45,000 as bribe from Gopalakrishna T. in Mandikolu village on Tuesday.

According to a press release, Mahesh reportedly demanded Rs. 57,000 as bribe for recommending land grant under Akrama-Sakrama scheme for Gopalakrishna’s mother Prabhavati.

Sources reveal that Gopalkrishna had submitted an application to the accountant to recommend the approval of Akrama Sakrama land of his mother but the village accountant demanded Rs. 57000 bribe for the recommendation. Gopalkrishna filed a complaint with the ACB.

Mahesh was caught while allegedly accepting Rs. 45,000. He has been accused of offence under the Prevention of Corruption Act, the release said. Further action will be taken against him.
 
DySP Sudhir Hegde, Investigating officer Dinakar Shetty,  ACB personnel Prashanth, Hariprasad, Radhakrishna and others took part in the operation.
