Mangaluru: The District administration will issue citizenship cards to 15,81,784 people residing in the district, on the directions of the National Population Register (NPR), said Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim.

He said this while presiding over a training programme for officials in the DC’s hall on Friday. Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumar said under the citizenship Act, every individual above 18 will receive citizenship cards. A database was compiled after house to house visits were made by officials in 2010.

The data will be scrutinized before issuing citizenship cards to residents in the district, a press release stated.
