11,758 students to appear across 11 centres of Uttara Kannada in 2nd PUC Exam-2

Karwar: A total of 11,758 students are expected to appear for the Second PUC Exam-2 across 11 centres in Uttara Kannada district, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sajid Mulla.

Presiding over a preparatory meeting held at the DC’s office in Karwar on Monday, ADC Mulla directed officials to ensure the examination—scheduled from April 24 to May 8—is conducted transparently and in strict accordance with the prescribed guidelines.

The examination will be held at 11 centres across the district, including Karwar, Ankola, Kumta, Honnavar, Bhatkal, Joida, Siddapur, Sirsi, Mundgod, Yellapur, and Haliyal.

To safeguard the confidentiality of examination materials, a three-member committee has been constituted to oversee the storage and distribution of confidential items in the treasury, which will be monitored through 24/7 CCTV surveillance. Eleven route officers—comprising Tahsildars, Block Education Officers, and senior principals—have been appointed for distribution duties, and their vehicles will be equipped with GPS devices for tracking.

Principals of government and aided colleges have been appointed as chief superintendents at the respective exam centres. They have been instructed to ensure CCTV systems are fully functional. A two-member committee will oversee live CCTV webcasting, and the Zilla Panchayat has also been tasked with monitoring the process.

The ADC further directed centre heads to ensure the availability of drinking water, toilet facilities, and other basic amenities. He stressed the importance of maintaining exam confidentiality, with measures such as storing question papers in the treasury under round-the-clock police protection, opening question paper bundles under CCTV surveillance, and bundling answer sheets under the same.

All exam staff, including invigilators, must wear ID cards. Photocopy shops near exam centres are to remain closed during exam hours. Health assistants will be deployed at each centre. Instructions were also issued to HESCOM officials to ensure an uninterrupted power supply and to transport authorities to provide smooth bus services on exam days.

The meeting was attended by PU Department Deputy Director Rajappa, DDPI Lata Nayak, District Treasury Officer Umesh Kuri, exam duty officers, and Tahsildars from various taluks, who joined via video conferencing.
