Health and family welfare minister KR RAMESH KUMAR told express that his predecessor UT khadar had signed the order to hand over the hospital to KAiMS BUT IT HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED.

Now, the order is issued to hand over the government hospital to KAIMS, he said. When contacted, the minister said the order would be issued by Thursday itself.

‘’The district government hospitals are under the health department whereas medical colleges come under the department of medical education. khadar had signed the order to hand over the hospital when he was in the office but the order was not issued. Recently while addressing a press conference to inform about the MCI nod, medical college director Dr Shivanand M Dodamani had said the hospital was yet to be handed over to the medical college.

Sources in the district hospital told Express that there was delay in handing over the hospital due to the confusion over the roles of both the director of the medical college and surgeon.

The surgeon post will be renamed as superintendent of the hospital once the hospital is handed over to the college. The confusion was regarding who would implement several schemes, including HIV eradication, OF THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT ONCE THE HOSPITAL IS HANDED OVER to the medical education department. the hospital sources hoped that the order would specify the duties of both the surgeon and the director of the college.

Following the recommendation of the medical council of India (MCI), the ministry of health and family welfare had given the letter of permission to start KAiMS. The 150 bed college will begin its academic activities in August.

The hospital is readied for the academic activities. Two operation theaters, preoperative ward, postoperative ward and ICU ward were constructed. the OT and ICU are equipped with necessary equipment. required number of teaching staff, nursing, paramedical and other staff have been appointed.
