Karwar: Following Incessant day-long rain, citizens of New KHB Colony in Karwar had to face lot of inconvenience on Thursday.

Most of the roads in the colony turned into pool of water forcing people to wade it with difficulty.

As the rain went on lashing without much interruption, water gushed into the low-lying areas. This resulted due to the absence of permanent system for smooth flow of rain and drain water.

To add to the woes, the roads have number of potholes and due to waterlogging, one could not spot the potholes while walking through it.

The citizens had to be extra careful as a slight negligence could cost them dearly. Also, pedestrians as well as those on vehicles had to dirty their clothes as water formed mini sprinkles whenever a vehicle passed through it.

School children also had to face problem as water stagnated in front of the Government Lower Primary Kannada School here.

While children had to involve in acrobatics to reach this school, parents were worried to send them to school due to the risk involved. Waterlogging also posed threat of contagious diseases to the people especially children.

"More than 100 students are studying in the Government Lower Primary Kannada School here. Every rainy season, water stands in front of the school and children and parents find it tough to reach the school. Though this issue has been brought to the notice of City Municipal Council (CMC) president, nothing has been done to solve our woes", said Sujata, a resident of New KHB Colony.

Karwar City Municipal Council member Pradeep Gunagi said construction of houses unscientifically in the neighbouring ward is obstructing the flow of water.

Due to this reason, water is getting collected in New KHE Colony.

To address the problems of the people, CMC member of a neighbouring ward has got some canals constructed for to flow of water. But that has not g- benefitted much.
