Mangaluru: Street Vendors’ Welfare Association has demanded action against communal organisations preventing Muslim vendors from carrying out business during temple fairs in different parts of the city.
The Association members, after submitting a memorandum to Mangaluru Commissioner of Police N Shashi Kumar, said that a few communal organisations have been installing banners to prevent Muslim traders from carrying out business and disrupting peace in society. The vendors have been eking out a living by carrying out business at various temple fairs, uroos and festivals. The communal divisive policies have been affecting their livelihood, they said.
Association honorary president B K Imthiyaz said prevention of Muslim traders from carrying out business during Venkatramana Temple Rathotsava from January 24 to 29 is being shared in social media. Police should act against communal forces that are installinng banners and preventing Muslims traders from carrying out business.
