Mangaluru: Two students, in separate incidents, ended their life by suicide. Fourteen-year-old Jnanesh ended his life after his mother took him to task for excessive usage of mobile phone at Kotimura in Padavu B Village.
Jnanesh, a student of ninth standard, was saddened after his mother scolded him for excessive use of mobile phone. Later, he informed the family members that he will go for a bath. When he did not return, his father Jagdeesh peeped through the window and saw Jnanesh hanging from the ceiling.
A case has been registered.
In another incident, 19-year-old Harshith, bullied by threats on Instagram, ended his life by suicide on Monday.
Harshith, a second-year degree student in Belthangady College from Ashok Nagar in Dharmasthala, had befriended an unidentified person in Instagram a fortnight ago.
The miscreant began blackmailing Harshith and demanded Rs 11,000 by January 23. He failed to raise the money and consumed rat poison on January 24. He was rushed to a hospital where he died. A case is registered.
