Bhatkal: A mock drill simulating a wartime attack was successfully conducted at Mavinakurve bunder in the taluk on Friday evening. The operation was a joint effort by the Coastal Security Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Rural Police Station, Health Department, Port Department, and Lighthouse authorities.

The exercise was part of a series of mock drills being held in various locations due to the growing tensions between neighboring countries. The drill at Mavinakurve bunder was executed with high effectiveness.

As part of the simulation, a bomb explosion was enacted, leading to six people being reported as injured. Police personnel swiftly arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and established security measures.

Firefighters rushed to the spot, extinguished the fire, and coordinated the prompt transportation of the injured to the hospital via ambulance. Armed police patrols were also deployed to recreate a realistic emergency scenario.

Coastal Security Police Station Officer Kusumadhar K. addressed the public, urging them to remain alert in such situations. He emphasized the importance of reporting any suspicious incidents, unfamiliar boats from other states or countries, and unidentified persons to the concerned authorities. He noted that attacks in border areas could also occur along the coastline, and public cooperation is essential for national safety. “Let us all remain ready to serve the nation at all times,” he said.

The drill drew hundreds of onlookers, with many believing it to be a real event due to its intensity. Fire Station Officer Mohammed Shafi and other officials were also present during the operation.
