Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat chief executive officer (CEO) Kumar has bagged the National Voters’ Day Award at the state-level for his participation in the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme of the Election Commission of India.

ZP CEOs Ukesh Kumar (Kolar), Kumar (Dakshina Kannada) and Rahul Shinde (Vijayapura) have been selected for the award under the best ZP CEO category.
The ECI will celebrate the 13th National Voters’ Day on January 25 and a state-level programme will be held in Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, Udupi deputy commissioner M Kurma Rao has been selected as one of the best district election officers. In addition, Rama Marathi, technical programmer of Dakshina Kannada, has been selected for the award under the technical programmers and election staff category.

A total of 27 officers were selected for awards under various categories in the state. Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot will honour award winners. The National Voters’ Day will be celebrated with the theme – ‘Nothing like voting, I vote for sure’, stated a release from the office of State SVEEP nodal officer PS Vastrad.
