Gokarna: “JD(S) has launched the Pancharatna Yojana to offer solutions to problems including poverty, lack of quality education in government schools, and poor facilities and services in government hospitals,” said former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy.

Addressing a public meeting at Gangavali after launching the JD(S) Pancharatna Yatra in Uttara Kannada district on Wednesday, Kumaraswamy said that the credit of waiving farmers’ loans goes to him and JD(S). The problem of forest encroachers in Uttara Kannada is yet to be solved. It is not possible for either Congress or the BJP to implement programmes that can ensure peaceful lives for every family in the State. It is only the JD(S) that understands the pulse of people and responds to their problems.

Kumaraswamy promised good (big) schools in gram panchayat level, the establishment of well-equipped hospitals, financial aid to fishermen, and other facilities if they are elected.

Prior to the programme, Kumaraswamy visited the Mahaganapathi Temple, Mahabaleshwar Atmalinga and other temples in Gokarna and offered puja.

‘Will retire if I fail’

Speaking at a roadshow at Hegde village in Kumta, Kumaraswamy said that he will take a political retirement if he fails to fulfill the aspirations of the people as assured in the ‘Pancharatna Yojane’ of the JD(S) on coming to power.

Kumaraswamy said that people must elect JD(S) as the single largest party in the State and not make it dependent on other parties to come to power. He assured that if the JD(S) comes to power, the Pancharatna Yojana will be implemented in a phased manner at a cost of around Rs 1.25 lakh crore in five years.
