Thieves break into two houses at Bhatkal

Bhatkal: Thieves targeted two houses in Bhatkal and fled with jewellery and cash. The first theft was reported in one of the busiest places of the Bhatkal town. A house opposite Anfal Super Market named 'Bab-e-Waqar' owned by Saquib Siraj Siddique was robbed.

Sources reveal that Saquib's mother Noorunnisa was admitted to one of the private hospitals of Kundapur on Thursday and hence the whole family were away. Taking advantage of the situation, the thieves broke into the house through the main door and stole a pendant, gold earring and ring along with Rs 10000. The total amount robbed is estimated to be around 50,000 Rs. They also broke open a bedroom door and three cupboards but could not find anything. The police were informed but no formal complaint has been filed yet.

Another robbery was reported in a house owned by Mohan Pandurang Naik  at Mundali on Thursday where the robbers broke in the house through the back door and fled away with a gold ring worth Rs. 23000.

As per the sources, the owner had gone to his in-laws to meet his newborn child when the incident occured. The robbers broke through the back door and rummaged through the cupboards and found a 14 gram gold ring won as a prize and fled away with it.  A case has been registered in the rural police station and probe is on.
