Karwar: Applications are now open for admission to Class 6 in prestigious schools recognized by the state-level committee for meritorious Scheduled Caste students during the academic year 2024–25. Eligible students must submit their applications to the respective Assistant Directors (Grade-1/2) of the Social Welfare Department in their respective taluks between April 19 and May 5.

According to the guidelines, the applicant must be a resident of Karnataka and belong to the Scheduled Caste community, possessing a valid caste certificate with an RD number. The student must have secured a minimum of 60% marks in Class 5 during the academic year 2024–25, and a verified copy of the SATS-marked report card must be attached.

The annual income of the student’s family must not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh. A certified copy of the latest income certificate issued by the Tahsildar should also be attached. Admission is limited to two children per family, with preference given to one male and one female child. In the absence of a male child, admission can be granted to two girls from the same family.
