Karwar: The National Lok Adalat scheduled for March 8 aims to settle 7,500 cases in Uttara Kannada district through mutual compromise, according to Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Divyashree C.M.

Speaking at a press conference held at the district court on Thursday, she revealed that there are currently 38,072 pending cases across different levels of courts in the district. Among these, 907 cases are already prepared for resolution, and efforts are being made to settle a total of 7,500 cases in the upcoming Lok Adalat. In the previous Lok Adalat, 5,495 cases were successfully resolved through mutual agreement.
The Lok Adalat will cover cases related to bank disputes, compoundable criminal cases, electricity and property tax issues, water bill disputes, labour disputes, land acquisition cases, motor vehicle accident compensation claims, matrimonial and family disputes, cheque bounce cases, and other civil and criminal matters. People can settle their cases either through their lawyers or with the assistance of the Legal Services Authority.
She urged the public to take advantage of this golden opportunity to settle their pre-litigation and pending court cases quickly by participating in the National Lok Adalat on March 8.
