Karwar: Fisher women picked the City Municipal Council (CMC) office here, on Wednesday, alleging that the CMC was delaying the construction of a well-equipped fish market.
They raised slogans against the CMC, and demanded that the new fish market should be constructed at the place where the old market was demolished.
CMC commissioner RV Jattanna said tried to console the protestors, and held a meeting with them.
“To construct the fish market in the previous place the decision to constrict it near HESCOM office has to be cancelled. A meeting called on May 31 was postponed, and another meeting will be called by fixing a date in consultation with the CMC president,” he added.
