Officials told to take steps to protect Kannada schools

Karwar: The over affection towards English medium schools has been the main cause of closure of Kannada medium schools, Kannada Sahitya Parishat former president Rama Naik, said.

He was speaking at a programme organised to welcome the children of labourers who migrated from other districts and states to the school.

Uniforms distributed

He also distributed uniforms and learning materials to them under ‘Shaale Kade Namma Nade’ programme here at police headquarters school, on Monday.
Stating that most of the convents schools were centres of nurturing foreign culture rather than promoting native traditions said and lifestyle, he said that children were not being instilled social values.

Taking admission

Kannada schools should be protected for survival of Kannada language. Officials and elected representatives should give serious thoughts in this direction while parents should send their wards to Kannada schools, he said.
BRC Umesh Naik informed that more students were taking admission to Kannada schools this year.
The government had also been extending new benefits to the children who take admissions in government primary schools. The parents should know about educational schemes and avail the benefits, he said.

Donor’s encouragement

Block Education Officer Shrikanth Hegde, presiding over the programme, said children hailing from other states too took admissions to Kannada medium schools.
The donors had been encouraging the children to study, he said.
Eight students from other states and one students from the state took admissions at police headquarters school he informed.
